After issuing three tickets for selling cigarettes to minors, Wuhan City, Hubei Province recently issued two tickets for selling electronic cigarettes to minors.
In early December, the Tobacco Monopoly Bureau of Jiang’an District and Dongxihu District of Wuhan City received reports from the masses, saying that there are retail outlets in the area selling electronic cigarettes to minors. The Jiang’an District Bureau and the Dongxihu District Bureau quickly coordinated with the District Market Supervision Administration to organize law enforcement officers to verify the content of the report, conduct investigations and evidence collection of the e-cigarette retail outlets involved in the case, and confirm the illegal facts of the retail outlets selling e-cigarettes to minors. According to relevant regulations, on December 14th and December 21st, the Jiang’an District and Dongxihu District Market Supervision Administrations successively made administrative punishment decisions on the persons involved in accordance with the law, ordering the parties to make corrections and imposing fines.
The parties all stated that they would take this as a precept, operate in compliance with the law, strictly implement ID card verification regulations, not sell cigarettes and e-cigarettes to minors, and jointly fulfill the social responsibilities of businesses.
In the next step, the Wuhan Municipal Tobacco Monopoly Bureau will carry out e-cigarette market subject information screening in accordance with the law, continue to strengthen law enforcement cooperation with relevant functional departments, severely investigate and deal with illegal sales of cigarettes and e-cigarettes to minors, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of minors .
